Let’s Talk About Site Prep
One of Solar Foundations’ newest clients recently nailed their site prep before scheduling the SFUSA Ground Mount installation for their 30-panel structure (6 panels high in landscape orientation by 5 panel columns wide) in Suffield, CT. We couldn’t help but take this opportunity to discuss site prep requirements before our crew’s arrival and why each item benefits the homeowner/business owner, solar company and SFUSA.
Updated Stake-Out Photo
Solar Foundations provides a stake-out plan once the project design is complete. Using that plan, a site photo showing the four outside corners of the array staked-out is necessary to avoid any onsite confusion.
- Wooden or metal stakes are inexpensive and clearly convey the correct location even if there are several weeks between initial stake-out and install.
- Please do not use small, metal flags as they tend to get lost or pulled out of the ground easily.
- Please note you do not need to stake-out the pile locations, just the four corners of each array.

Access Route
The SFUSA crews bring a full-size pickup truck and 22’ trailer (48’ combined length) to the work area and need access (15’ wide without any sharp turns) to get the truck and trailer to the work site. If there are access restrictions around the array, we can usually work through it but need to know so we can budget for it. Solar Foundations USA needs a satellite view of the project site showing our approved access path to get the truck and trailer to the work area prior to scheduling.
